History

This aircraft is the msn 4175 and was built at the Lockheed plant in the U.S. city of Burbank in 1955 and was delivered to the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) U.S. Air Force on November 1, 1956.

In 1962 the machine started operating in the 183 Squadron Air National Guard (ANG) of Mississippi, years later became part of the Aeromedical Transport Squadron 167. The machine flew until 1972 when he moved to Arizona (Davis-Monthan Air Base), then in the late seventies registar the plane was N73544 and was used as a crop duster.

In 1983 the aircraft was purchased by Mr. Daryoush "Benny" Younesi for your company `s fish Winky Corp to transport fish from the Philippines to Japan, between 1984 and 1991 the aircraft was seen in Camarillo in very poor condition.

In 1991, Mr. Daryoush "Benny" Younesi founded the Constellation Historical Society and, along with several volunteers performed put the Super Constellation flight conditions again in 1994 and since then the machine is presented in numerous air shows.

The December 12, 2003 the aircraft was purchased and the April 26, 2004 the aircraft, now dubbed "Star of Switzerland" left American soil and flew to Switzerland, landing on May 8 at the airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

The plane arrived painted with the colors of Breitling, in May 2007 was registered HB-RSC.

Since 2009 the aircraft received extensive screening in Germany during the overhaul was found corrosion in the wing structure and problems with the engines after 18 months of hard work the aircraft made its roll out last April.

Airlines collection of forty-four pages of 195 x 270 mm, with coated paper 150 grs. The color pages are printed on coated paper 250 g with UV gloss lacquer finish. The work includes images seventy-eight B & W color, complemented with twenty-profiles / plan views made specially for the work. Of note is the quality of many of the photographs as well as profiles.

The introduction of the first three McDonnell Douglas DC-9 Super 80 was the beginning of a new era in the history of Southern Airlines. The economic and political difficulties in Argentina at that time, complicated the replacement of the BAC One Eleven by modern DC-9.
There were ups and downs with rescheduling of deliveries, contract modifications, etc.. but ultimately the "MD80" began to operate and in increasing numbers, not just Southern but also in Aerolineas Argentinas. A large number of aircraft of different variants of the MD-80 family members of Argentina's commercial air fleet, although its replacement has begun, it will be possible to see this magnificent aircraft operating for several years.
